Roy Smiles is a British drama writer and singer-songwriter from west London. He is also an actor occasionally.

Smile has written twenty-six theatrical dramas, the most famous being Kurt and Sid, the London West End production of 2009 about the fictional encounters of Sid Vicious and Kurt Cobain. He has recorded seven self-released albums.

Careers

His first show was staged in 1992 at the Battersea Arts Center, Schmucks is about a fictional encounter between Groucho Marx and Lenny Bruce.

In 2002 he played the role of Itzak Heller, a Jewish collaborator, at Roman Polanski's The Pianist .

The stage and radio drama Smiles focus primarily on biographical subjects such as Janis Joplin ( Get It While You Can ), Beyond The Fringe ( Goodnight team), Arthur Miller ( Reno ), George Orwell ( Year of the Rat ), Tony Hancock ( The Lad Himself ), Robert F. Kennedy ( The Last Pilgrim >), PG Woodhouse ( Plum ) and Enola Gay ( People Bombing ). Some of his dramas have debuted or moved to theaters around the world, such as Pythonesque, the story of the Python Monty team, which opened in South Africa before moving to Edinburgh as part of the Fringe Festival. Ying Tong - A Walk With The Goons , a story about Spike Milligan's nerves while writing The Goon Show, staged at West Yorkshire Playhouse in 2004, moved the following year to New Ambassadors Theater at London's West Akhiri before the tour US, Australia, New Zealand, and South Africa.
