Canady started his professional wrestling career in 1989 at the age of 20. Originally appearing as a traditional professional wrestler, Canady realizes that he will not become a nationally recognized talent. He noticed that his friends were amazed when watching the match wrestling match of death, and immediately adopted the same hardcore style. He created the name of his ring Mad Man Pondo as a play on the nickname of Abdullah the Butcher, "Mad Man from Sudan" and Pondo Sinatra characters from The Party Animal . He and fellow wrestlers Corporal Robinson and 2 Tuff Tony started traveling across the country together early in their careers. Smart Mark Video video distribution company helps the trio gain national exposure.

IWA Mid-South

Canady started working for the Independent Mid-South Wrestling Association (IWA-MS) in 1997. In 1999, he volunteered to compete with Tony Tony to help introduce him to the company's hardcore wrestling style. Pondo met her with the exact technique of hardcore wrestling, and Tony later remembered that Pondo "nursed me well" in their match. On April 15, Canady became the first IWA Mid-South Hardcore Champion. He lost the title to Tony two weeks later before winning back the following month. Canady lost the championship for Tony the next day, but won the IWA Mid-South Heavyweight Championship in September.

In 2003, he participated in the King of Deathmatch Tournaments. Canady defeated Nate Webb, Axl Rotten, and Nick Gage to reach the final. In the final game, he beat J.C. Bailey to be crowned King of Deathmatch 2003. On March 18, 2006, Canady and Ian Rotten defeated the Iron Saints to become the IWA Mid-South Tag Team Championship. The duo lost the championship five months later. In November, Canady and 2 Tuff Tony took part in the Double Death Tag Team Tournament, though they were not told which team would win the tournament. They defeated Children of Pain then Dysfunction and Corporal Robinson to reach the final. In the final, he and Tony defeated the tough Crazy Bastards to become the first Double Death Tag Team tournament champion.

He then went and lost in the second round of the King of the King of the Deathmatch Tournament.

In 1997, Canady wrestled with Insane Clown Posse at the ICP's Strangle-Mania Live event . Two years later, he, 2 Tuff Tony, and Corporal Robinson grapple at Dan Curtis Memorial, an independent wrestler booker who recently worked for Insane Clown Posse. A few days after the event, Tony, Robinson, and Canady were booked to wrestle for Juggalo's First Insight Clown Insight Juggalo Championship show. Canady teamed up with Pete Madden to defeat Ian Rotten and Corporal Robinson in the Exploding Barbwire game.

The following year, Canady participated in the "Strangle-Mania Live Tour". Her Hardcore match with Fat Fuck Barrel Boy was put into JCW, Vol. 2 . Canady began appearing annually at the annual Juggalos Meeting and quickly became a staple in the company. In 2003, he and Necro Butcher fought in the deathmatch which was released at JCW, Vol. 3 . Soon after, the two men began to cooperate. At the 2005 Juggalos Summit, Canaday defeated champion Terry Funk to become JCW Heavyweight Champion. He held the title for over a year before losing to Corporal Robinson at Hallowicked After Party 2006.

The following year, Canady went on tour with JCW to film the internet wrestling show SlamTV! . In the first episode, Insane Clown Posse announces that JCW Tag Team Championship has been cleared, leading to multiple tag teams appearing. Canady aligned himself with Necro Butcher, and the team dominated the competition for several weeks. However, hostilities grew between the two as the miscommunication cost the two members of several matches. The following weeks saw the duo fighting, which led to a series of matches between them. The teams reunited on "East Side Wars", though, and eventually proved themselves to be the top contenders for the empty tag team title. In Bloodymania, the duo won the Team Tag-Team Elimination 8 match to become the new JCW Tag Team Champions. His administration was brief, however, as Necro Butcher signed a contract with the Ring of Honor, forcing Canady to cooperate with several partners. At a live event in Cleveland, Ohio on January 26, 2008, Canady and his partner Breyer Wellington lost the title to 2 Tuff Tony and Violent J.

Canady also wrestled in Bloodymania II and Bloodymania III in a single game. At the X-Mas Ballroom, 2009, Canady and Necro are back working together to face Thomaselli Brothers. On May 21, 2010, while touring with JCW on "Happy Daze Tour" by Insane Clown Posse, Pondo defeated Corporal Robinson to become JCW Heavyweight Champion twice. In a rematch ten days later, Pondo lost the championship to Robinson in a Four Corners of Pain match. In Bloodymania IV, Canady and Necro Butcher lost to Balls Mahoney and Hollywood team Chuck Hogan.

On March 9, 2011 at Hardcore Hell, the Pondo team and Necro Butcher beat The Haters in an elaborate Barbed Wire, Thumbtacks and Ladders match for their second Tag Team JCW Championship. The duo lost their championship to Ring Rydas the following month.

At Bloodbath 2000, Canady and Ian Rotten grapple with a draw in their debut match at Combat Zone Wrestling. He continued wrestling for the company, while also participating in their talent exchange with Japanese company Big Japan Pro Wrestling. Canady won the CZW Iron Man Championship on June 9, but lost the following September. During his time with the company, Canady became an honorary member of the stable H8 club.

Big Japan Pro Wrestling (2000-2008)

Canady began wrestling in Big Japan Pro Wrestling in 2000 as part of a talent exchange between the company and Combat Zone Wrestling. He wrestled a single match with the name Original Foolish Foreigner before changing his name to Mad Man Pondo. The exchange of talent between companies ceased in 2001 when Combat Zone Wrestling demanded more money. Big Japan Pro Wrestling refused, so CZW withdrew all their talents from Japan. Canady, however, refused to leave because the fans and the company treated him well.

He was later named American booker for Big Japan Pro Wrestling and brought talent from the state, including 2 Tony Tony. He and Tony soon formed the tag team Baka Gaijin, Japan for the Fools. The team was well received by Japanese audiences and Japanese wrestlers. They continued to wrestle with tours from 2001 to 2006, while Canady went on a single tour until 2008.
