Burnside as well as a number of live albums, singles, out-takes, compilations, remix albums, and in 2010, an expanded series of publishing.
Throughout their career, this experimental sound and sometimes unconventional recording techniques have allowed the band to work with a number of diverse artists including Elliott Smith, Beck, Solomon Burke, Steve Albini, Martina Topley-Bird, and Ad Rock of the Beastie Boys.

History
Formation
Originally from Hanover, New Hampshire, Jon Spencer attended Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island where he was part of the rock band Shithaus noise, with Tod Ashley (Cop Shoot Cop, Firewater) before moving to Washington, DC where he fronted the band Pussy Galore who will quickly move to New York. Spencer played and recorded with Gibson Bros., Boss Hog and The Honeymoon Killers before the Blues Explosion formation.
Judah Bauer, from Appleton, Wisconsin, was at the beginning of The Spitters, and along with Russell Simins, from Queens, New York, was recorded as part of the Crowbar Massage.
It was with Killer Honeymoon Jerry Teel that Bauer, Simins and Spencer will all do and record and from where they will go to form The Jon Spencer Blues Blast.
"Russell and I will train with Honeymoon Killers and practice will finish and Russell and I will continue to play, eventually inviting friends Simins, Bauer to join."
The Sound of The Jon Spencer Blues Explosion was informed by previous bands with influences taken from working with Gibson Bros which has been proven in Pussy Galore's last album. "The last Pussy Galore album is emitting a twisted version of the Gibson Brothers of what will come next with Spencer, a more successful Spencer Blues Blast."
"... after five years of Pussy Galore I was able to connect to rock 'n' roll in some way that I could not do before," he recalls the formative days. "I'm annoyed about so many things... so many jolting rocks that tickle me, and Pussy Galore kicked it in. With Blues Blast, there are some things, but now I have to celebrate. - Jon Spencer
They signed a contract with a major independent label Matador Records between 1993 and 2002 in the US, Crypt Records between 1992 and 1994 in Germany and Mute Records between 1996 and 2005 in the UK even though they have released material on a number of different labels including 2010. reissued in Shout Factory in the US and Shove Records in the UK.
A Reverse Willie Horton / The Jon Spencer Blues Blast / Crypt Style (1991-92)
The band had been playing together for six months when they had their first recording sessions with Kramer in Noise NY, New York in July 1991 and recorded fourteen tracks for three hours, "just do a second take here and there, we do not even go to mixing board ". This session was published as a whole as the first album by The Jon Spencer Blues Explosion, A Reverse Willie Horton . This is an unofficial album released by "Pubic Pop Can", at some point between late 1991 and early 1992, in the 500 edition or 1000 copies (numbers vary between sources). It has been suggested that the source of pirated copies is a tape dubbed Jon Spencer that allowed someone to copy during a tour with Gibson Bros in August 1991.
The front cover image on this album was negative from Clarence Thomas, his wife, and George Bush at the inauguration of Thomas to the Supreme Court on October 19, 1991, with titles and artists written in machine type fonts. The back shows handwritten titles and label information on a topless woman's photo. Front and back artworks are both taped to plain black sleeves. The title refers to convicted criminals William R. Horton who was used extensively for political advertising during the 1988 presidential campaign.
The second session was recorded by Steve Albini at Waterfront, Hoboken, NJ in November/December 1991. The songs from both Kramer and Albini sessions were later officially released on the release of Caroline (USA)/Hut (England) The Jon Spencer Blast Blues ; in larger quantities by Crypt Records as Crypt Style Ã,; and in an alternative version of Crypt Style by 1 2 Records (Japan), including the song "Colty" which is not available elsewhere until Shout 2010! The First Year factory release collects every song released from both sessions with the exclusion of the alternative "Feeling of Love" (released on Dirty Shirt Rock N Roll: Ten Years First ).
The band made a music video for the song "Rachel" directed by Jim Spring and Jens Jurgensen which was later released by Matador Records in 1997 Live Video Promo .
The first album by The Jon Spencer Blues Explosion is the only one released by Caroline Records.
"In 1992, The Jon Spencer Blues Explosion signed a deal with Caroline Records and asked for a very specific signing bonus - the new 10xCD Jerry Lee Lewis box set.As the band knew, Caroline never jumped for the set, and the Blues Explosion Mastery was just aged short and fierce. "
The first single's release was "Shirt Jac" in In The Red Records (1992) also from a second recording session with Steve Albini. This is the first of the series Juke Box Series explosions inspired by the same "Charlie Feathers series released in the 70s" (the third single in the series, "Get With It", is actually the setting of a Feathers from 1956).
The b-side "Latch On" is Jon Spencer's composition of rockabilly songs despite the fact that The Jon Spencer Blues Explosion recording has very little in common with the most famous recordings of this song (released by Ron Hargrave and The Cochran Brothers). The Jon Spencer Blues Explosion version is more than likely a Cochran Brothers cover version of this song as both songs display the words "You are completely lost" that do not appear in the lyrics sung by Ron Hargrave.
Extra Wide (1993-94)
When the band signed to Matador Records they "requested 9xCD Stax-Volt Complete Singles 1959-1968... Matador made good with Stax, and the band enjoyed a decade of partnership with the label".
In late 1992, Jon Spencer Blues Explosion started a long tour in the US supporting Jesus Lizard. Frank Kozik designed posters for shows in Emo, Austin, Texas and Kennel Club, San Francisco.
The recording sessions for Extra Wide , the second studio album The Spencer Blues Blast, took place in Memphis at Doug Easleys studio on November 23/24 and December 3, 1992 during the Lizard Jesus tour and on Airworks Records in New York with Jim Waters where all the overdubs and further mixing is done.. The graphic design of the album copies the panty hose package purchased in Memphis, Tennessee. The original panty hose packing can be seen on the band's photo used on Mo 'Width and the subsequent release of Extra Width .
It is said that during this period the stage persona of Jon Spencer evolved and he established what is now synonymous with the Blues Explosion live performances.
"Jon has a breakthrough, it's time and art, he's getting better. Her Brown's style show is the old method, but Jon takes it to another level. Before that, punk - he likes it, but he's shy.He finally crossed and became full players. "He wants to be watched."
"Spencer squirmed, possessed by Presley during the lonely" Lonely Sightness "- his tormented soul dragged the shards of glass for everyone to see, Theresin wailin 'sounds and adds to the cathartic confusion. If it's real and not theater, I'm bothered."
Extra Wide was released in June 1993. "Afro" was then released as a 7 "single in the UK in 1994 and has a music video directed by Tom Surgal. This is the only one to be released from the album and featuring b-side "Relax-Her" labeled "Incidental" on tests that were pressed and introduced as on recordings.
On September 11, 1993 The Jon Spencer Blues Explosion appeared on Blast First The Lost Weekend show in London Astoria 2 with The Afghan Whigs, God Machine, and Hair & amp; Leather Trade Company. The accompanying Lost Weekend compilation album is limited to 3000 copies and includes the song "Afro". 2000 copies were given to the two-day event attendees and the remaining 1000 were sold via (now dead) English weekly music Melody Maker for Ã, £ 1.50 each.
Their first TV appearance was on the Channel 4 UK TV show The Word (Season 4, Episode 12) in February 1994, featuring "Afro" and "History of Sex". After that presenter Mark Lamarr said "they're the best live band I've ever seen."
Also in early 1994 In The Red Records released "Train No. 3" and "Train No. 1" as the third edition of the Explosion Juke Box Series ("Train No. 2" appeared Extra Width ).
Mo 'Width was published in July 1994 by Au Go Go Records and the results of the Extra Width <âi? - iera featuring the cover of "There Stands The Glass" (Webb Pierce), " Beat of the Traps "and Ole Man Trouble (Otis Redding), an alternative mix of" Afro "with a much more prominent solo organ and" Rob K "featuring Rob Kennedy from The Workdogs and the song was later titled "Rob K is President" on the re-issued Mute Records 2000.
During an interview with Dutch magazine Oor Jon Spencer said that the release of Mo Width was delayed up to two months before release as the next studio album.
Orange (1994-95)
Orange was recorded in Waterworks, NYC with Jim Waters and released in October 1994. The original Vinyl Matador Records is a silver-colored disc and the first edition of Crypt Records has an orange arm more than ordinary silver.
"Bellbottoms" opens the album and displays the string part arrangement by Kurt Hoffman. The song is also issued by Matador Records as a 7 "white vinyl only one in the UK and has a music video directed by Tom Surgal. There is also a music video for" Dang "directed by Steve Hanft," Flavor "directed by Evan Bernard and featured performances by Beck (which also appeared on the song) and Mike D from Beastie Boys.
In August 1994 The Jon Spencer Blues Explosion played a number of tour dates in Australia and New Zealand with Beck and in September 1994 they played in the Netherlands in Vera, Groningen on the 18th and recorded a set of live broadcasts for VPRO radio on the 25th. The VPRO session issued as an illegal pirated 10 "which includes previously unreleased songs" Curfew Blues "and" Wriggle and Move "and" Intro "edited together in the same way as" Tour Diary "on Experimental Remix i> and at least two segments appeared in both releases. "Curfew Blues" was later released on Jukebox Explosion Rockin 'Mid-90s Punkers and 2010's Orange publishing including two VPRO session sessions "Very Rare" and "Woman Love" (titles are sometimes given as "Frustrate").
In October 1994, the Blues Blast made their first attempt to record a live album in DPC, Tucson, Arizona, USA, but the show was hit by technical problems and was stopped when a spectator threw a stink bomb. Several songs were later released in 2010 repeated from Controversial Negro .
In December 1994 they performed live on TV show Jon Stewart at MTV Studios, New York City. "Get With It" from the show was released in 1997 Live Promo Video by Matador Records.
The Jon Spencer Blues Explosion played a British show in March 1995 with Beastie Boys (including Brixton Academy, London where they made headlines in April 2002 on Plastic Fang tours) and in May they toured the US with The Roots and Beastie Boys.
Experimental Remix The EP was released in May 1995 featuring songs from Orange reworked by artists including UNKLE, Beck, Mario Caldato Jr., Mike D, Dub Narcotics Voice System, Moby and GZA (featuring Killah Priest).
In September 1996 Orange sold 70,000 copies.
In 2000 Experimental Remix was reissued with a new remix on CD and double vinyl and Orange reissued on CD with enhanced sections featuring "Dang", "Flavor" and "Bellbottoms "music videos and vinyl editions packed with posters. This album was re-published in 2010 by Shout! Factory (USA)/Shove Records (UK) as a double CD which this time incorporates Orange , Experimental Remix and some rare, direct and previously unreleased songs.
Now I Have Worried (1996- 97)
On the afternoon of February 6, 1996 The Jon Spencer Blues Explosion recorded the album A Pocket Pocket of Whiskey with R.L. Burnside and Kenny Brown at Lunati Farms in Holly Springs, Mississippi. Two more tracks, "Alice Mae" and "Highway 7", also recorded at Lunati Farms in February 1996, will be released on the Burnl R.L album. 1997 Mr Wizard . Both albums feature cover artwork by Derek Hess.
The music settings used in the songs "2 Brothers" and "Tojo Told Hitler" from A Pocket Pocket of Whiskey will evolve into The Jon Spencer Blues Explosion song "Cool Vee" which was released as b-side to " 2Kindsa Love ". "Have you ever been lonely?" is a jam based on "Vacuum of Loneliness" which was originally released on a self-titled album in 1992.
"It was frightening enough to get down to Mississippi and record with RL because he is my idol," said Spencer, who toured with guitarist/singer in 1995. "You definitely get the feeling you play for him, rather than with him." That's almost the same as Rufus Thomas. "
Now I Have Worry produced by Jon Spencer and Jim Waters and recorded at Easley Studio, Memphis; G-Son, Los Angeles; and Waterworks West, Tucson. These sessions were mostly between the 5th and the 13th of February 1996 (the same time as the recording with R.L. Burnside). The album was released by Matador Records and Mute Records in October 1996 (reached number 50 on the UK album chart) and featured performances by Thermos Malling of Doo Rag (credited with "Bang" on "2Kindsa Love"), Rufus Thomas and Money Mark and the cover version of "Fuck Shit Up" originally by Dub Narcotic Sound System with Judah Bauer on the main vocals. The Korean edition did not include "Fuck Shit Up" and the Japanese release featured "Get With It" and "Cool Vee" as a bonus track.
During this time the release of Matador was distributed by Capitol in an article about Marc Burton, buyer for Minneapolis' Electric Fetus, saying, "I think with the extra exposure he will get through the wider distribution, Spencer can hit as big as Beck.
Capitol/Matador released only a 7 "promo from five different radio promo places.
RL Burnside will also be joining The Jon Spencer Blues Explosion for tour dates Now I Got Worry in UK, Europe and USA in October and November 1996. On October 23, 1996, Lola da Musica, VPRO TV filmed both artists in a pre-show hour session at De Melkweg, Amsterdam. "Boogie Chillun" was then released officially on Live Video Promo .
On October 29th The Jon Spencer Blues Explosion recorded a short live set for MTV Studios, London consisting of Now I Got Worry songs and "Water Main" and "Vacuum of Loneliness". "Love All of Me" and the band's introduction are officially released on Live Video Promo .
"2Kindsa Love" was the first British single to be released from Now I Got Worry by Mute Records published on pink vinyl 7 "and a CD in November 1996 with a music video directed by Mike Mills who reached 122 on the ladder English songs.
"Wail" was released in the UK by Mute Records on May 10, 1997 as a CD and two 7 "singles (gray and green vinyl), the spelled misspelled" Spencer Blues Explosion "cover written at Tipex at the escalator's hands-on railway station underground Tottenham Court Road in London (there's also a second bit a bit further that just says "Shit"). Each cover shows a slightly different photo by William Bankhead of the same text.
The music video for "Wail" directed by Weird Al Yankovic, reached number 66 on the UK singles chart.
In Melbourne, Australia, on September 6, 1997 The Jon Spencer Blues Explosion featured "2Kindsa Love"/"Flavor" on the national youth morning, weekly, Recovery program. Jon Spencer can be seen running through the audience, around the set and destroying the drop back "Blues Explosion". Jon Spencer was asked about this special show in the British weekly music issue of June 2010 NME :
"What song did you play with Jon Spencer Blues Explosion when you destroyed a TV studio in Melbourne in '97?" "We may have started with another song and got into 'Flavor' It was unplanned, it just hit me.This may be just because of fatigue. You reach the point on the tour and you get a bit of a drunk. It's an event broadcast live in the morning They're all really good about it! "
In 2010 a new version of this album was released by Shout! Factory/Shove! The record expanded to include the b-sides, rare tracks and the previously unreleased "Roosevelt Hotel Blues" featuring Beck and Money Mark.
In May 1997 Controversial Negro was released. This is the only promotional live album published on vinyl in the US, CD in UK and officially released in Japan on CD with five additional songs.
The arm for this release is mentioned in an article titled "Mo 'bitter blues" published in May 1997:
For the ordinary observer The Jon Spencer Blues Explosion may seem like nothing more than selfish and important nihilist with a complex persecution complex. But their learning reserve in the face of journalistic interrogation is not surprising when you consider that the faithful traditionalists of American rock media have recently branded them as racist, simply because they dare to treat the blues as something other than a sacred museum.. A situation that will soon be compounded by the upcoming promo band's upcoming album, which is inadvertently titled 'Negro Controversial' and illustrated oddly with the print of the Warhol daily about the face of the Mick Jagger icon. In the end, Jon Spencer played with fire. He gladly challenges the racist people called liberal America with a burning image. He is, after all, a semiotics graduate (linguistic brand related to signs and symbols), so he knows exactly what he is doing. Controversial Negro works on two different levels: the first is a timely reminder for journalistic 'squares' at much simpler times, when Jagger and his Rolling Stones (now untouched by guards old) are equally reproached for 'insulting the blues'; secondly, it is a powerful visual communique that the blast of Jon Spencer Blues firmly refuses to be intimidated into artistic compromise.
The title for this album comes from the song Public Enemy "Burn Hollywood Burn" from their 1990 album Fear of a Black Planet . Toward the end of the track, someone asked Flava Flav the following question: "Now we are considering you for part in our new production, how do you feel about playing a controversial nigger?"
The artwork used in the promotional version along with the Negro Controversial title was originally intended for Now I Got Worry .
In June 1997 they performed at the Tibet Freedom Concert in New York City and the live version of "Blues X Man" was released on the accompanying triple CD album (which also featured Russell Simins performing with Cibo Matto).
Acme (1997-99)
In March 1997 the band recorded a song on Dub Narcotic Studios, the Olympia track for K Records releasing the Narcotic Dub Dub compilation (released May 1998). The song titled "Blues Explosion Attack" name was examined Calvin Johnson, Doo Rag, Subsonics, Speedball Baby, Rods Demolition Dolls, RL Burnside, Dub Narcotic Sound System and Kinney Sleater who had supported Blues Blast at their Moore Theater show the previous day ( will be rewritten and re-recorded for the album Acme ).
Working at ACME started in October 1997, when the band entered the studio with Dan Nakamura, aka Dan Automator for Right Places, Wrong Time , a cover of Dr. John hit used on the soundtrack to Scream 2.
Spencer says: "The reason we made the Scream 2 soundtrack is to try to work with the producer. We actually fit into Dr. Octagon's record - it's a great record, and also a strange note, so besides 'The Right Place' we recorded some another song. ""
The next stop was Steve Albini's studio, Electrical Audio, where the Blues Blast cut off a few songs in the days after their New Year's show at Chicago's New Year's 1998. "Steve, we cut everything alive, as we always do," he said. "I want to use Steve because I know he will do a good job and the tape will sound good, and we can send him to anyone because we have a good starting point and can not really go wrong"
While in Chicago they also met Andre Williams who played locally. She recorded guest vocals for the song "Lapdance" (which was not released until Acme Plus album/Extra Acme was released the following year).
The singer explains: "Some of the Acme is done in ancient Blues Explosion, I work with engineers, but we also make a wide net. Some songs are mixed and remixed by different producers, which is one the reason is very expensive, and some of them are finally sewn together from two or three different mixes. We are not so valuable about these songs, we let others do it and then we shuffle the deck. "
Acme was released in October 1998. In the US, the first single to be released from the album is "Talk About The Blues". The song was recorded during a session with Calvin Johnson at Dub Narcotic, Olympia, Washington. Most of the other songs recorded today will be released in 1999 as a collaborative album Sideways Soul: Dub Sound System Narcotics Meets The Jon Spencer Blues Explosion in Dancehall Style! .
The music video, directed by Evan Bernard, featured Winona Ryder, Giovanni Ribisi and John C. Reilly as Blues Blast with Judah, Russell and Jon acting. The singer told MTV Online: "I think people are really going to be surprised when they see acting on the part of the Blues Blast. When people get lots of heavy, dramatic, really very intense scenes that we pull out of the soul us, I think people really will be fascinated... ".
Throughout the band's life the use of the word "blues" in the band's name has led to much debate. The lyrics "Talk About The Blues" discusses this issue by referring directly to MTV and Rolling Stone magazines and displaying the line "I'm not playing blues, I play rock 'n' roll" (which itself is a reference to Mississippi Fred McDowell album I Do Not Play No Rock 'n' Roll ).
"Talk About The Blues" adalah reaksi Rolling Stone ulasan tentang Now I Got Worry dan Q & amp; A dengan Jon Spencer.
"I wrote the song right after we did the interview, inspired by it and also some of the criticism we've received over the last few years. If we try to record some songs that are responses to criticism when it happens, it will be too heavy. with original nuances, what you call harsh words, but that's no big deal, you know, a lot of things do not deserve a response. "
"Magical Colors" reached number 92 on the UK singles chart in November 1998. The video, directed by Terry Richardson is a compilation of photographs.
"Talk About The Blues" reached number 120 on the UK singles chart in March 1999.
Non- Acme track "New Year (Destroyer)" was released as a split-single with Barry Adamson as the fourth single in the Slut Smalls series.
"Heavy" is the last single to be released from Acme in August 1999: reaching number 106 on the UK singles chart.
In 1998 they appeared on the Canal show Nulle Part Ailleurs which featured "High Gear" and "Talk About The Blues". For nine and a half minutes Jon Spencer's performance utilized the television studio, ran through the audience, stood on the table and brought back to the stage by one of the confused presenters. While on the table Jon called and shook hands Jackie Chan who was given a copy of the album Acme .
On the morning of July 22, 1999, The Jon Spencer Blues Exploded tour van entered the loading pier of The Sheraton in Vancouver, Canada. The windows were destroyed and messy tools were stolen, including the microphones, ammens, rack equipment, and the original 1962 Vanguard Theremin Model. Theremin never recovered.
Sideways Soul (1999-2001)
In September 1999 they released the collaborative album Sideways Soul under the name of Dub Sound System Narcotic Meet The Jon Spencer Blues Explosion in Dancehall Style . Nine albums were recorded in Dub Narcotic Studios, Olympia and featured Jon Spencer's line-up on Guitar, Vocals and Organ, Judah Bauer on Guitar, Russell Simins on Drums, Jeff Smith on Organ and Calvin Johnson at Vocals and Melodica ( Talk About The Blues are also recorded during this session).

Fang Plastik (2002-03)
The album Plastic Fang is produced by Steve Jordan and recorded in Oorong, Magic Shop, and The Hit Factory. Released in April 2002, it features art and design by Chip Kidd with a limited edition of CDs and vinyl published in 'Fang Pack'. Original artwork for this album is taken from the comic.
The various editions of this album feature a different track list but there are guest appearances by Dr. John, Elliott Smith, Bernie Worrell, Willie Weeks, and Bashiri Johnson.
"She Said" is the first single taken from the album, it has a music video directed by Floria Sigismondi. On February 8th, the group filmed the second live show video at 100 Clubs in Oxford Street, London for "She Said" (directed by Barney Clay). The single will be, to date, their highest UK single chart chart at number 58.
In April they appeared on the BBC TV show Then with Jools Holland featuring Jools playing the piano during "Sweet n Sour".
The single "Sweet N Sour" came out in July with a video directed by Stylewar reaching number 66 on the UK singles chart. Another "Shakin 'Rock'n'Roll Tonight" followed in November, reaching 126.
On January 31, 2003 the band performed with Solomon Burke at Royal Festival Hall, London as "Solomon Burke Met Jon Spencer Blues Explosion".
Damage (2004-06)
Damage is the only album to be released on Sanctuary Records and for this release the band is temporarily known only as Blues Explosion. The shortened name lasts less than two years.
The album was recorded between December 2003 and April 2004 at Empire View Studios, NYC, Globe Studios, NYC and Elegant Too Studios with production and mixing credits including Dan Automator, DJ Shadow, Steve Jordan, Free Association (David Holmes), Jay Braun, Alan Moulder, Danny Madorsky, Chris Maxwell and Phil Hernandez (Elegant Too) as well as Blues Blast, Jon Spencer and Russell Simins.

In September (28/29) Russell Simins and Judah Bauer will be joining Tom Waits and Larry Taylor for a show on David Letterman's TV show which plays Make It Rain from the album Real Gone >.
This particular event caused a frenzy behind the scenes when Mike Edison wrote "crazy conspiracy verbs" about Jon Spencer replaced with Tom Waits for the Blues Blast website. This is part of a larger plan to get a picture of Tom with Russell and Judah and send it out with a tongue-in-cheek press release ("Tom Waits Blues Explosion") to see if the story will be taken by the mainstream press but before the event, a record company publisher took the text directly from the Blues Blast site and sent it out as a legitimate press release and almost caused the show to be canceled.
Between August 2004 and May 2005 the band toured in Europe/Britain, the United States, Japan (eight dates with The Kills), Australia, England again (supporting The Hives) and Turkey.
At this time in British 'garage rock' and bands like The Hives, The Strokes, White Stripes are very popular and it is often noted that The Jon Spencer Blues Explosion never gets the recognition many writers feel they deserve.
Jon Spencer has debated his blues brand - extroverted, down-and-dirty, pinched by punk and acknowledged debt for Little Richard and Carl Perkins as much as Adkins and Son House Results - for about 14 years now. he and his band even enjoy the praise of the White Stripes?
Of Crunchy NME says it is "packing an irresistible strain type that will shoot straight to number one for 14 years in a true-minded world."
A mock-up newspaper (front page only) entitled "The Daily Explosion" and a DVD featuring music videos for Burn It Off and Hot Gossip were available at the US show in November. 2004.
In 2005 an EP titled Snack Cracker was released in Japan. It garnered a lot of British b-sides albums with videos of Hot Gossip and Burn It Off, remixed Jay Braun Hot Gossip and Rattling live recording featuring Steve Jones of the Sex Pistols.
The Blues Explosion recorded the theme song for Anthony Bourdain series No Reservations which aired on The Travel Channel in 2005. The track lasted about 60 seconds and about 20 seconds was used during the intro sequence of the program and the menu screen on the next DVD release.
On September 21, 2005 The Jon Spencer Blues Explosion appeared in Ko Ko, London performing as part of ATP's "Do not Look Back" event in which the artist plays the album as a whole. The band plays Orange followed by a set of non- Orange songs.
During this time there was a message sent to the Blues Blast mailing list that outlines a number of future projects and releases including recorded album news Live Record during the Damage tour (maybe just a Japanese event) which, to date, has never been released.
Toward the end of 2005, the band continued to be hiatus and members worked on different projects with different artists.
Compilation and hiatus (2007-2011)
In October 2008 they released a rare and unreleased compilation of songs including all the songs from the five singles of the Jukebox Blast Series ( Jac shirt , Son of Sam , Train No. 3 , Get With It and Ghetto Mom ). The album artwork parodied the original 1982 Back From The Grave compilation with images of Yehuda, Russell and Jon replacing the original character. Both arms were created by Mort Todd.
The band also started playing live again in June 2008 with a secret show at Bowery Electric followed by the New York City Bicycle Film Festival and short Jukebox Explosion European tour during August and September 2008.

In an interview with "Get Back", Jon Spencer responded to a question about the possibility of the band releasing new material with "There is really a chance We have been playing concerts, touring and playing straight away because this recording is coming out again It's been very, very fun. talking about the possibility of something new. "
