Anpanman ( ?????? ) is a Japanese picture book series written by Takashi Yanase, running from 1973 until the author's death in 2013. The series has been adapted into anime titled Soreike! Anpanman ( ????! ?????? , Let's Go Anpanman ) , which is one of the most popular anime series among young people in Japan. The series follows the adventure of Anpanman, a super hero with anpan (a cake stuffed with beans) for the head, which protects the world from an evil anthropomorphic germ called Baikinman.

Highly merchandised, the Anpanman characters appear in almost every imaginable children's product in Japan, from clothing to video games to toys to snacks.

The series spawned a short-lived spin-off show featuring one of the popular recurring characters on the show, Omusubiman.

During the Second World War, Takashi Yanase faced hunger many times, which made him dream about eating anpan. This inspired the creation of the Anpanman .

Character

The series of Anpanman series debuted in October 1973. Frobel has published over 150 picture books under different series of labels comprising a number of varied drawing books. Takashi Yanase writes and illustrates a picture book until 2013, after retiring from his career and finally death.

Anime

The first anime adaptation of Anpanman , consisting of one episode, was aired during the Hiroba Spring Break - Picture Book at NHK General TV on March 13, 1979. Like the first picture of the book, the name Anpanman in titles are written in hiragana (??????) instead of katakana. The anime is narrated by Meiko Nakamura. Although the character's design is closer to the pictorial books released under the Kinder Picture Books label, the story and worldview are almost identical to the second anime adaptation.

Anpanman's second anime adaptation, titled Soreike! Anpanman , produced by TMS Entertainment. More than 1300 episodes have been aired on NTV since October 3, 1988.

Full-length movie

In 1990, Tokyo Movie Shinsha started producing short Anpanman movie subjects. This is about 24 minutes shown simultaneously with the full length movie seen above. Shorts made in 1989 and 1993 were not included because they did not involve the Anpanman world.

In 2011, research by Bandai found Anpanman as the most popular fictional character among people aged 0 to 12 in Japan in 10 years in a row.

Anpanman's book has collectively sold over 50 million copies in Japan.

Controversy

Episode 3 of Tuan. Osomatsu features a regular series character of Dekapan as "Dekapan-Man", a parody of Anpanman . However, the parody was deemed "disrespectful" and was immediately removed from the episode and all releases were due to the lack of exceptions to the Japanese parody in the copyright law that created a parody of the illegal copyrighted work. TV Chairman of Tokyo, Y? Ichi Takahashi apologizes for this episode and explains that "Anpanman is an important anime for children." It's not polite for that. "

Legacy

There are 5 museums in Japan dedicated to Anpanman , such as the Yokohama Anpanman Children's Museum & amp; Mall. There is also Yanase Takashi Memorial Hall, a museum dedicated to Takashi Yanase himself.

The Anpanman Official Shop Taipei, the first overseas shop of Anpanman specializing in products related to the series, opened at Shin Kong Mitsukoshi shopping center in Taipei on September 10, 2015.

Anpanman has very little impact outside of Japan, but the anime series has been aired (briefly) under the following names in other countries:

• In the Arab World, it's known as ar-ragheef al'ajeeb (??????????, Wonder Loaf)
• In India, this was aired on Pogo in 2009, under the name Anpanman Breadman in English. The series is finally revoked.
• In South Korea, this series is aired under the name Nalara! Hoppangmaen (hangul: ???! ???, "Come on Us! Anpanman") on MBC, Spacetoon and Animax.
• In China, this is known as "????" (pinyin: MiÃÆ' nb? och? orÃÆ' Â © n).
• In Pakistan, this series airs on Cartoon Network
• In Sri Lanka, a series dubbed in Sinhala as "Gnanakatha Malli" has been aired on Rupavahini.
• In North America, the series is now aired in its original Japanese version on Japanese TV.
