Smile is an autobiographical graphic novel written by Raina Telgemeier. It provides an explanation of the life of the author from grade six to high school. This book is based on Telcomemeier's webcomic, Smile .

Summary
Raina just wanted to be a normal sixth grader, but one night she tripped and fell, badly injuring her two front teeth. What followed was a great earthquake, a confusion of boys, and friends who were not very friendly. The whole story comes from Raina's sixth class to the tenth.

This book received positive reviews. The New York Times describes it as "a story to entertain the reader through the years between childhood and adulthood," and named it "Editor's Choice." Kirkus's review calls it "irresistible, funny and touching", with "strong writing and emotionally expressive characters"; later, Kirkus marks it as one of the best nonfiction books of 2010 for teenagers. According to the School Library Journal , this is "a great addition to the high school literature." It was included as one of the four "Great Graphic Novels for Family Entertainment" in an article 2010 on Christian Science Monitor .
This book won the Boston Globe 2010 - Horn Book Honor for Nonfiction. In 2011, this book won the Eisner Award for Best Publications for Teens. It is also one of the Top 10 Graphic Novels of Adult Young Adult Designers Association for Teens, and the 2011 Library Services Association for Children's Books that are Important to Central Readers. In 2013, he won the Mid-Young Readers Choice Award from Washington and Rebecca Caudill 2013 Young Book Reader Award from Illinois. It won the 2014 Nevada Readers Award.
Beginning February 25, 2017, paperback versions have spent 240 weeks on the New York Times Best Sellers list under "Paperback Graphic Books."
In May, 2014 Mark Tatulli wrote Smile into her daily comic strip of Heart of the City , as the hero of Heart Lamarr found graphic novels on her way to the library with her mother.
