Careers and research

And Reinstein is an ophthalmologist and research scientist in the field of laser eye surgery.

For several years of research at USG biotechnology at Weill Medical College of Cornell University, Dr. Reinstein led the development of Artemis VHF digital ultrasound technology, a diagnostic tool for measuring and studying individual corneal layers as well as the anterior dimensions of the anterior segment with a single micrometer precision. He has pioneered the application of Artemis technology to understand the safety and accuracy of LASIK. It develops Laser blending vision - LASIK treatment for presbyopia (eye aging) is now distributed as by Carl Zeiss AG in their MEL80 laser platform. Dr. Reinstein has also developed a new algorithm for safe treatment of extremely high refractive errors by LASIK. He has a joint patent, with Carl Zeiss Meditec, who is closely involved in developing a procedure called Small Incision Lenticule Extraction (ReLEx SMILE) using VisuMax femtosecond lasers to create refractive lenticles in stroma which are then removed through a small incision (http://www. meditec.zeiss.com/relex). In 2006, Dr. Reinstein along with Dr. Cynthia Roberts instigated and headed the Biomechanical Section of the Journal of Bias Surgery. where he served as a section editor for 10 years. Dr. Reinstein claims to be one of the world's leading authorities in Therapeutic Surgery Surgery, diagnosis and treatment of refractive surgical complications. She is a Therapeutic Surgeon Biopsy Surgery Section for Journal of Bias Surgery.

And Reinstein has published over 100 articles in medical journals reviewed by colleagues, contributing or written over 40 published chapters/reports, and more than 150 articles to the Ophthalmic Press.

Danish specialists in vision correction surgery include LASIK, PRK/LASEK, RELEX SMILE and phakic IOLs for correction of myopia, hyperopia, astigmatism and presbyopia. Dr. Reinstein developed the first method to examine each of the corneal layers with micronic precision in 3D with digital VHF ultrasound and initiate the field of studying the dynamics of the corneal epithelium on corneal refractive surgery, now a widely accepted and widely used knowledge for preoperative screening. keratoconus diagnosis and analysis of refractive surgical complications. He has been a key consultant since 2001 to Carl Zeiss Meditec, for whom he developed the Mixed Laser Vision PRESBYOND to treat presbyopia (eye aging, vision reading) and has contributed to the development of RELEX SMILE - a new keyhole laser key laser eye surgery method. His research has produced over 150 peer-reviewed publications, 30 chapters of books and 500 international presentations and lectures. He was awarded the Waring Medal in 2006 and received the Kritzinger Award in 2013 and in April 2018 published a textbook on SMILE.
