Guy Smiley is a fictitious character on Sesame Street dubbed "America's favorite game host." His acting was among the people on the show was a parody of commercial media. Smiley also hosts Here Is Your Life , a parody of This Is Your Life . The profiled guests include a piece of bread, teeth and trees (all intended to teach children how things are made). He has also organized contests for numbers and letters.

Performed by Jim Henson, the character was largely discontinued at Henson's death in 1990. He appeared as a background character in a street scene in 1998, and performed by Steve Whitmire. He also appeared on the CD-ROM, "Let's Make the Word" (a joke Let's Make a Deal ) and "Prepare to Learn", where his voice is credited to Don Reardon. The character has recently been performed by Eric Jacobson, starting with a video insert at the touring exhibition "Sesame Street Presents: The Body". As seen in the preview for the 39th season, Smiley will officially return to the show.

Game menunjukkan

In the first season of Sesame Street (1969-70), Smiley hosted the first segment of "The Answer Lady," featuring an elderly woman named Grandma Fanny Nesselrode who claims that she has the answer to everything but never provide the best answer for every question submitted by the viewer. Smiley was later replaced by a regional accented Muppet host who had some resemblance to him.

Smiley does make some appearances that have nothing to do with his hosting career. When Cookie Monster was in the bakery chewing items rhythmically with the word "buy", Smiley came in announcing that she was "Guy Smiley, the daytime television star." At this point, Cookie can not remember that it's a cake he's after, and the use of repetitive rhyming words with "pies" does nothing to remember his memory. The scene ends with him incorrectly noticing that the rhyming item is "GUY!", And chases Smiley around the bakery, trying to bite his hand.

He also appeared in a sketch that featured Grover as an Elevator Operator. That's to teach the kids to face the front of the elevator. In this sketch, "Mr. Smiley" (as Grover calls him) is also voiced by Jim Henson, but with a different voice from his playing personality.

In one cinema drama with Bert and Ernie, using Smiley as an additional line, this character is played by Richard Hunt.

She also appeared on Holiday with Guy Smiley, where she tried to photograph various animals in the forest, but her loud voice kept them afraid. At least until the lion roared came, scaring Guy's guidance, but the lion took the camera and took Guy's picture with the other animals.

Smiley appears as an extra non-speaking background (wearing a strange, extraordinarily strict expression) along with many other Muppets in the musical "Some/None."

International

Sesame Street is localized to the international market, where Smiley is often renamed. In Portugal, for example, he is "Carlos Luz", a play of words with the name of television presenter Carlos Cruz. In the Netherlands, he is called "Henk Glimlach", "glimlach" meaning "smile". In Germany, he appears only as "Robert", probably after Robert Lembke, the famous game host.
