Histori
AT & amp; T SportsNet Rocky Mountain was originally launched in November 1988 as the Prime Sports Network , a joint venture between Bill Daniels and Tele-Communications Inc. This channel is one of the original members of the Prime Network, a regional sports network group with the Los Angeles-based Prime Ticket (now Fox Sports West) as its flagship outlet. The network was renamed Prime Sports Rocky Mountain in 1990.
In October 1995, News Corporation, which formed the sports division for the Fox network two years earlier after obtaining broadcasting rights for the National Football Conference and attempted to create a regional sports network group, acquired a 50% stake in the Prime Network from TCI Liberty Media's parents. Later that year on November 1st, News Corporation and Liberty Media re-launched Main Network affiliates as part of the new Fox Sports Net group, with the Denver-based network officially renaming as Fox Sports Rocky Mountain . The channel was renamed to Fox Sports Net Rocky Mountain in 2000, as part of a collective brand modification of the FSN network under the banner "Fox Sports Net"; then in 2004, the channel shortened its name to FSN Rocky Mountain , through network disabling of the "Fox Sports Net" brand.
On December 22, 2006, News Corporation sold its stake in FSN Rocky Mountain and FSN Utah, FSN Northwest and FSN Pittsburgh sister networks to Liberty Media, in asset trading where News Corporation also swapped its 38.5% stake in DirecTV satellite provider for $ 550 million in cash and stock, in exchange for 16.3% of Liberty Media shares in the company. On May 4, 2009, DirecTV Group Inc. announced that it will be part of the Liberty entertainment unit, partly to be separated into a separate company under the name DirecTV, in an agreement in which Liberty will increase its share in DirecTV from 48% to 54%, with Liberty owner John Malone and his family having interest 24 %. DirecTV will operate its newly acquired FSN affiliate network through DirecTV Sports Networks, a new division formed when the separation from Liberty Media was completed on November 19, 2009.
On December 17, 2010, DirecTV Sports Networks announced that four regional branches affiliated with Fox Sports Networks - Rocky Mountain FSN, Pittsburgh FSN, FSN Northwest and FSN Utah - will be relaunched under the brand "Root Sports". The official network changed its name to Root Sports Rocky Mountain on April 1, 2011, with The Dan Patrick Show as the first program airs under the new brand. For a particular purpose, the Root Sports network continues to bring distributed programs primarily to the Fox Sports regional network to provide additional sports and entertainment programs. On April 8, 2016, DirecTV Sports Networks renamed under the name of AT & amp; T as AT & T Sports Networks.
On June 12, 2017, AT & T Sports Networks announced that the network, along with Root Sports Southwest, Root Sports Pittsburgh and Root Sports Utah, will perform a rebrand under the name AT & amp; T SportsNet Rocky Mountain , with all network programming and broadcast talent intact. Name changes take effect on July 14, 2017.
