Pete & amp; Pete is an American comedy television series created by Will McRobb and Chris Viscardi for Nickelodeon. It centers on the cute and surreal adventure of two brothers named Pete Wrigley, along with an eccentric family member, friends, and enemies.

Pete & amp; Pete started at Nickelodeon in 1989, as short-minute shorts that were aired as interstitial. Due to the popularity of shorts, a special five and a half hour was made, followed by a regular half-hour series that lasted for three seasons from 1993 to 1996. Repeat impressions of shorts and performances now run on TeenNick as part of their NickSplat block on 5 October 2015. Jason Ankeny of AllMusic calls the series "the greatest children show ever seen", while IGN calls it "one of the most well written children's shows ever". The first two seasons were released on DVD in 2005; the third is planned for 2006 but postponed indefinitely.

Settings

Pete & amp; Pete is set in the city of Wellsville (implied state, but never explicitly mentioned, to be a fictional version of the real-life city of Wellsville, New York). An allusion to his location came during "When Petes Collide", when Petes's father walked four hours to the Canadian border to get rid of his bowling ball, Rolling Thunder. The parts of Wellsville are figured for the purpose of the show; Glurt County, mentioned in "Yellow Fever" and "The Good, the Bad and the Lucky", does not exist in any state (Wellsville is actually located in Allegany County, New York). The number plate in the show refers to Wellsville located in the "State of Sideburn".

One of the most widely reported guest appearances - Hunter S. Thompson, in "New Year Pete" - has been described as "apocryphal" by the creator of the show Will McRobb, who said that Hunter Thompson listed in the credit is the same additional name.

Polaris, a side project of Mark Mulcahy's Miracle Legion, serves as an event "band house", providing theme songs and many other songs that are heard throughout the series and even appearing on "Hard Day's Pete" as a four-part local game of a garage. Some Polaris music from the show was released as a CD, Music from Pete & amp; Pete , including the theme song "Hey Sandy".

These cassettes include Polaris songs "Hey Sandy", "She is Staggering" (listed on the cassette originally just "Staggering"), and "Coronado II".
