The sticker is a detailed illustration of characters representing emotions or actions that are mixed cartoons and "emoji" similar to Japanese smileys. They have more variety than emoticons and have the basis of the internet "facial reaction" culture because of their ability to describe body language with facial reactions. Complicated stickers, emoticons are driven by characters and give people a light means to communicate through kooky animations.

History

Stickers came from Japan in 2011 when a Korean Internet company called Naver started developing Line in Japan. Due to the 2011 Tohoku earthquake and tsunami, many of the country's telecom networks are tense and corporate-based text messages and messages work better than regular calls and text messages. In early 2012, the apps and profiles of the characters featured in the Line sticker collection grew quickly, with the latter evolving into a cult figure.

Use and model

Stickers can usually be downloaded for free, while online stores provide a wider alternative to a price. Sets may be for specific themes, characters, and popular brands and media franchises like Hello Kitty, Psy, and Minion from Despicable Me .

Until 2013 stickers have largely become Asian phenomena, but the success of companies such as Line US market began to see entrants into space. In 2012 and 2013 founders Swyft Media (formerly Text Pride) and Hi-Art marked the first US company to enter the sticker market.

Line managers generate about a third (30%) of their profits from stickers. Stiker's commercial success causes many companies to add them in their business model. Path 3.0 adds two key features in 2013 to their personal social network. One of them is the Stores, part of the ongoing Path effort to monetize its app that gives stickers to its users. In April 2013, Facebook added stickers to their web chat with Sticker Store. Mobile messaging apps use stickers as a popular monetization method; nearly 40% of smartphone users surveyed actively using stickers, and more than a fifth of all mobile users surveyed said they had paid stickers/emoji in the messaging app at least once.
