Plot summary
While attending a friend's birthday party, Miranda Cotton meets the handsome Brendan Block. The two slept together that night and started the relationship. Ten days later, Miranda arrives home to find that Brendan has allowed himself to come in and go through his belongings. He immediately ended the relationship, causing Brendan to storm out of his flat after verbally abusing him.
A month later, Miranda was contacted by her sister, Kerry, inviting her to meet her new girlfriend: Brendan Block. Miranda warned Brendan not to hurt her sister, but she replied that she really fell in love with Kerry.
As time went on, it became clear to Miranda that Brendan used her new engagement for her sister and the relationship that got closer to her family as a way to get her. His family became close to Brendan; especially his younger brother, bipolar, Troy (Robert Daniel Lowe). When Troy committed suicide, Miranda's concerns about Brendan grew stronger.
Brendan then dumps Kerry for her best friend, Laura, whom she marries. Three months later, Laura contacted Miranda, suggesting they talk. Miranda waited in a pub for her, but Brendan arrived and accused her of meddling in her marriage. After a fight, Miranda goes to check on Laura and find her body. Brendan allegedly murdered his wife, but the prosecution was not made due to lack of evidence.
Miranda becomes obsessed with proving Brendan's fault. He tracks Brendan, who lives with a new boyfriend named Naomi. Miranda attempts to warn Naomi of Brendan's brutal nature, but he is banished by Brendan. He issued orders to Miranda, accusing her of harassment. Receiving a call from Naomi shortly afterwards, Miranda went to the apartment not knowing it was arrangement by Brendan to have her arrested. Naomi contacts Miranda from the outside, tells her to leave, and Miranda escapes from Brendan and the police. Naomi tells Miranda that Brendan is rough and she is afraid of her safety.
After deciding that Naomi would be safe living with Kerry, Miranda returned to her flat. That night, Brendan arrives and angrily looks for Naomi, to no avail. She says that Miranda encourages her to do some things she normally would not do before raping her.
The next day, a friend of Miranda found his flat to fall apart, as well as blood and masking tape in the bathroom. After the conclusion that Miranda had been murdered, an investigation took place on Brendan as the main suspect. Naomi found a set of bloodstained keys in Brendan's coat pocket and handed them to the police. Brendan was arrested for the murder of Miranda and sentenced to life in prison.
Six months later, the Miranda family received three plane tickets from Naomi, asking them to come to Australia, where she now lives. When they arrived, they met Naomi at the airport and saw Miranda.
A flashback explains that Miranda and Naomi plan to drink Brendan by putting a pill into her glass the night she arrives at the flat. Naomi is shown drawing blood from Miranda, then Miranda spreading around the bathroom after Brendan slips unconscious. He planted his fingerprints into the set of keys that had been smeared with his blood. Then, disguised as Laura, Miranda flies England to Australia to live with Naomi's parents until Brendan is arrested.
After removing Brendan, Miranda paused to think about his brother Troy, who was the only missing person at the table where he and his family were eating happily.
