Plot
In 1995, the Jacobs family was a tight Jewish-Italian family. Pat's parents and Alan had a marriage that seemed to be struggling because of Pat's disinterest in her husband. Elder daughter Dana is having a long-term relationship with Ben's fiancé who has achieved a habit. Ali's younger son is still in high school and more interested in going to school and being taller than applying to college.
Returning from a rave one night and trying to do his homework, Ali opens a file containing his father's love note to a mysterious woman named "C".
Around the same time Dana met the former, Nate, at a party. Sometime later he decided to blow up his social obligations and take a day for himself. She runs to Nate and they both have sex.
After being confronted by his parents about his behavior, Ali runs away to their family home to have sex with his girlfriend. He was confronted by Dana who went there to get away from Ben. The two ended with the weekend of a girl in which Ali told Dana about their father's business and Dana told Ali that he betrayed Ben.
Dana decides to move back home to "support" Ali and help him find C but he continues his affair with Nate and acts irresponsibly, blowing his obligations. The sisters meet a dead end, but at the reading of their father's drama, they meet with Carla, an actress, and believe that she is the C of the letters. Dana is annoyed but when he mentions it to Nate, he keeps her from laughing because the monogamy is not there and causes her to end her affair. After a conversation with his father where he told him that he was not sure about the direction of his life, Dana started reaching Ben once more.
On Halloween Dana goes to meet with Ben but reveals to him that she is having an affair with Nate causing him to leave her. Ali then took Dana to a drug deal where Dana convinced him not to buy drugs, but both were picked up by the police. That night, Pat comes out to the bar and teases a man, but goes back home and has sex with Alan. He then reveals that he knows about Alan's affair with Carla. Pat and Alan's battle was distracted by a phone call from the prison where Alan went to fetch his daughters. Upon returning home, the sisters found Pat smoking and crying. He revealed an affair to them and they both hugged him comfortably.
Dana chases after Ben and convinces her to take it back. Alan moved from the family home but vowed to remain part of the family. At Ali's birthday party, the family reunited to celebrate.
