Krystal is a chain of American fast food restaurants headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia. This is known as a small square hamburger slider with steamed onions. Krystal moved its corporate headquarters from Chattanooga, Tennessee, where it was founded in 1932, to Atlanta in early 2013.

Founded on October 11, 1932, in Chattanooga, Tennessee, during the early years of the Great Depression, businessman Rody Davenport Jr. and partner J. Glenn Sherrill theorize that even in severe economic upheaval, "People will patronize a cleanly stocked restaurant, where they can get good food with the courtesy service at the lowest possible price." The first customer of the restaurant, French Jenkins, ordering six "Krystals" and a cup of coffee, all for 35Ã, Â ¢, thus proving their theory is correct.
Davenport has visited the White Castle restaurant, noting successful features, before starting his own business. Davenport and Sherrill founded the first Krystal on the corner of 7th and Cherry Streets in Chattanooga. The first Krystal is a modular building built in Chicago and shipped to Chattanooga for the final installations. The oldest still operating Krystal is located on Cherokee Boulevard in Chattanooga's Northshore District. Krystal is the seventh or eighth oldest hamburger chain in the United States (the oldest is White Castle) and the oldest in the South.
Regarding the origin of Krystal's name, the legend of the company states that Davenport and his wife were driving on the mountain road when Mrs. Mary McGee Davenport saw a crystal ball-shaped ornament. While looking at the grass ornament, Ny. Davenport commented that since Davenport and Sherrill feel cleanliness is the cornerstone of the concept, they should name the Crystal restaurant for "clean as crystals" - but with "K" to add a little touch. From the early 1930s to the early 1960s, the chain served much of its food, not in take-home containers, but on cheap porcelain plates with "Krystal" moniker. The waiters and waitresses wear white uniforms, and the food is offered through the counter service. In the 1950s, Krystal opened its first drive-through window - most of which it maintains today. A 2013 study of seven fast food franchises found that service at Krystal drive-through was the slowest, with an average wait time of 218 seconds. Krystal's restaurants, both corporate and franchised, operate in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, South Carolina and Tennessee. There is also Krystal in Bristol, Virginia, (on the Tennessee-Virginia border), one in West Memphis, Arkansas (just across the Mississippi River from Memphis, Tennessee), and one in Murphy, North Carolina. Krystal has also operated several restaurants in Texas for many years. This is often compared to the Midwestern White Castle restaurant chain, and in addition to the markets of South Central Kentucky and Nashville, Tennessee, the two-restaurant market area generally does not overlap.
Krystal maintains its headquarters in Chattanooga from 1932 to 2013, and has been owned by Argonne Capital Group since early 2012. Previously, Port Royal Holdings, Inc. has a chain from 1997-2012, extending the chain to the top of more than 420 locations in 11 states in 2002, prior to downsizing and closing dozens of sites. In the mid-2000s Krystal tested a prototype for a new high-tech drive featuring individual television monitors for ordering and watching television (audio accessed via car stereo), and indoor and outdoor seating areas with multiple large screen monitors and free digital displays. jukebox.
