Killing by Smile is the debut album of metalcore band Australia Parkway Drive. This is the only album featuring Shaun Cash bassist.

It was released in September 2005 in Australia via Resist Records, and in September 2006 in the US via Epitaph Records. A video is produced for "Smoke 'Em If Ya Got' Em".
In October and November, the group went on an international 2006 edition of Taste of Chaos, visiting New Zealand, Australia, Japan and Europe. From early July to early August, the band continued the 2007 Warped Tour.

Critical reception
Since its release, Killing with a Smile has received mixed and positive reviews.
Absolute Punk is very positive from the album, calling it a true "genre-defining" record. The reviewer praised the song structure, although no verse or chorus was defined. About.com Chad Bower's Reviewer Reviewer is less positive about the album, but says "It's a very solid debut, and if you're a metalcore fan, this is one that's worth a try." He was a bit critical of the album's lyrics for being "a bit on the emo side", but saying "angry vocals" masked pretty well.
AllMusic reviewer Corey Apar provides various reviews about this album. He especially notes how the album lyrics deal with broken hearts and "how upset they really are", citing "Romance is Dead" as "lyrical treasure". He concludes his review by comparing the band with Bleeding Through and "it just depends on where the current personal opinion stands above the need for other metalcore actions".
Punknews.org reviewer Matt Whelihan is very critical of the album, calling it generic. Whelihan said the album "is an unprovoked business that can not avoid metalcore traps.Parkway Drive can create metalcore images when they see it, but instead they are content to track their previous works."
Public acceptance
Killing with a Smile is well received by the public. On Rate Your Music album has an average rating of 3.24 of 5, based on over 500 ratings, and on Sputnikmusic album has an average rating of "very good "from 3.8 out of 5, based on over 1,450 judgments.
In popular culture
The name for the song "Guns for Show, Knife for Pro" is a quote from the movie, Lock, Stock, and Two Smoking Barrels .
The Australian surf group Bra Boys features four songs from the album in the documentary Bra Boys: Blood is Thicker from Water , the songs featured are "Gimme a D", "Anasasis (Xenophontis)", "Mutiny "and" Difficult to Speak Without Tongue ". The songs were all released on the soundtrack except for "It's Difficult to Speak without Tongue".
