Josh Ostrovsky (born February 18, 1982) commonly known as The Fat Jew are American celebrities, writers, actors, models, winemakers and entrepreneurs.

Early life and education

Ostrovsky was born and raised in New York City to the father of Russian-born radiologist Paul, and maternal nutritionist Rebecca. He grew up in Manhattan on the Upper West Side. She attended several schools as a child, starting at Packer's school in Brooklyn, and then she also attended Trevor Day School and Dwight School, both on the Upper West Side. As a child actor, he appeared in several commercials, including one for Hershey's. After studying at New York University and Skidmore College, he enrolled at the State University of New York at Albany, graduating in 2004 with an art scholar in journalism.

Music

While at SUNY Albany, Ostrovsky is a member of the trio of Team Facelift rap, where he first started using the name Fat Jew. He has said that the moniker was inspired by one of his advisers at Eisner Camp and by Al Goldstein magazine publisher. Team Facelift was formed in 2004, signed with Duck Down Records and released the album Mixed Emotions in 2006. They broke up in 2012.

In September 2016 Ostrovsky announced Major Behavior's Major Lazer tribute band, formed with DJ Maachew Bentley and billed as the world's first tribute EDM band. Major Behavior toured in 2016 as part of the IRL Ostrovsky Tour. For the second IRL Tour in 2017, Major Behavior toured with Dillon Francis, RL Grime, and Favor Party. Major Behavior joined onstage by Major Lazer's Diplo during the May 2017 show in Chicago.

Social media

In 2009 Ostrovsky started his Instagram account with "TheFatJewish" hand. The account became viral in 2013 after Ostrovsky posted a video parodying Soul Cycle, where he led a spin class for homeless people in Citi Bikes parked on the street. In 2013, his Instagram account is suspended for inappropriate content. In response, he held a rally outside the Instagram office in New York. The protest was broadcast live on Vice.com, and his account was restored after 15 minutes. In 2014 The New York Times wrote that "he has lived a profane sense of humor that mocks the metaphor of the social media culture and the hipster that spread it: the obvious affection for pots, pets and grandparents; and her sordid and odd physical appearance... become a big web follower. " Time magazine named Ostrovsky to the 2015 list of the 30 Most Influential People on the Internet. As of September 2017, he has over 10 million followers on Instagram.

Ostrovsky has been hired to undertake product placement in his social media posts by companies including Burger King, Virgin Mobile, Apple, Budweiser and Stella Artois. In 2015 he entered as a spokesperson for Seamless.

Movies, television and advertising

In 2007 Ostrovsky was hired as an entertainment reporter interviewing celebrities at The Daily 10 on E! He then hosted the web series of Intimate Conversation conversations . He sold the show parodying the Williamsburg hipster culture, Brooklyn to Amazon in 2013, which was not produced. In 2014, he signed an agreement to develop a pithy series for Comedy Central, based on his life. The deal was canceled in 2015. He signed a contract with Creative Artists Agency in 2015, and the year began to make regular appearances on Bloomberg News, starring in Bud Light commercials that aired during Super Bowl XLIX, and appeared in the music video for DNCE's "Cake by Ocean ", as well as" Boys "by Charli XCX. She has emerged as herself in various reality television series, including 3AM and The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills . She has also played supporting roles in several movies, including upcoming teen comedy Status Updates , starring Ross Lynch and Olivia Holt. She is featured in a 2017 ad campaign for Malibu Rum. She appeared in the American Meme documentary, which premiered at the 2018 Tribeca Film Festival.

Models and modes

In June 2015, Ostrovsky signed a modeling contract with One Management. He claims to be the first male size model in the world. She appears in photos scattered in the May 2015 edition of "Inked ", and is featured on the cover of the magazine treats! in 2016 and Nude in 2017.

At New York Fashion Week on September 16, 2015, her Dad Fashion Show started a collection of menswear.

More business

Ostrovsky previously hosted a radio show on Apple Music Beats 1 called "Money, Pizza, Respect". A book with the same name, a collection of essays and personal pictures, published by Grand Central Publishing in 2015. The book cover parodies the biography of Walter Isaacson 2011 Steve Jobs .

Ostrovsky is the founder of the Swish Beverages, who launched the White Girl RosÃÆ'Â © in 2015, following it in 2016 with Babe RosÃÆ'Â â„¢ wine With Bubbles and Family Time Is Hard Pinot Grigio. In 2018, Anheuser-Busch InBev acquired a minority stake in the company.

Controversy

In 2015, Ostrovsky was caught posting screenshots of other comedic jokes on Instagram and Twitter without their permission, and with credit withheld. After several stories were published about this behavior, Ostrovsky edited his last post to praise the joke writer.


Personal life

Ostrovsky and Katie Sturino married in 2014. They announced their divorce in 2017.
