Alfred Lin is an American venture capitalist at Sequoia Capital. Lin is COO, CFO, and Chairman of Zappos.com until 2010.

Lin holds the B.A. in Applied Mathematics from Harvard and M.S. in Statistics from Stanford. While at Harvard, Lin meets Tony Hsieh, future CEO of Zappos. Hsieh first recognized Lin's business acumen while running a student-owned pizza room at Harvard. Lin, his best customer, buys whole pizza, divides it into wedges, and sells it for profit. In 1996, Lin quit the Ph.D. program at Stanford to join Hsieh at LinkExchange as CFO. 18 months later, LinkExchange was sold to Microsoft for $ 265 million. Then, before joining Zappos, Lin was VP of Business Development and Learning Tellme Networks (MSFT). Along with Tony Hsieh he also founded Venture Frogs, an incubator and investment company. Venture Frogs invests in various technology and internet startups, including Ask Jeeves, OpenTable, Tellme Networks, and Zappos.
From 2005 to 2010 Lin is an integral part of Zappos, taking on the role of Chairman, COO, and CFO. In Zappos Lin is "No. 2 in command", is responsible for all financial operations, administration, and warehouse. He is also responsible for the growth and scaling of the company, bringing the company to a profitable first year in 2006 and the company's Amazon.com acquisition in 2009 of $ 1.2 billion. According to TechCrunch , "Hsieh earns at least $ 214 million; Lin earns at least $ 18 million, with Venture Frogs shares scoring an additional $ 163 million."
Lin left Zappos in 2010 to join Sequoia Capital venture capital firm as a partner.
